A roguelike Prince of Persia game
The Rogue Prince of Persia is a premium adventure game for PC developed by Evil Empire. It is a 2D side-scrolling action entry to the classic Prince of Persia series. Players will control a young prince as they battle against an army corrupted by magic and find their place as the son of a royal family.
Similar to Prince of Persia: Lost Crown, The Rogue Prince of Persia boasts an interconnected world filled with deadly traps and platforming challenges on top of waves of enemies to defeat.
A prince gone rogue
The Rogue Prince of Persia is set in the same universe as other releases in the classic Prince of Persia series. This time around the country faces a new threat from an invading Hun army corrupted by dark shamanic magic. You play as a young prince of the royal family who sets out on a lone quest to stop this threat and earn his place with his kin.
Fast and free-flowing are some of the words to describe the gameplay in The Rogue Prince of Persia. Using your acrobatic prowess, seamlessly transition between overcoming various platforming challenges and deadly traps and dealing combos on enemies. Choose from a wide variety of primary weapons for attacks and secondaries like bows, shields, and grappling hooks to find a combination suited to your playstyle.
You can also equip medallions that augment your attacks in different ways to enhance combat or take advantage of enemy weaknesses. You will also meet a colorful cast of characters on your journey as you progress through a procedurally generated world and non-linear story. As of this writing, though, the game is not out yet, and there are still a few weeks left before it officially releases.
A nice rogue twist
Joining the aforementioned Lost Crown release, The Rogue Prince of Persia takes the classic series in a roguelike direction, and the experience is a fun twist to the traditional formula, and they're all the better for it. If you've been a long-time fan of the franchise, these releases mark great things for its future, and this release is one worth keeping an eye out for and trying when it releases.
